Horizontal CNC Turning
Heartland has extensive horizontal CNC lathe experience with 13 top of the line Okuma CNC horizontal machines offering both 2 axis and 4 axis turning. Our chuck sizes range from a low of 10" diameter on our ES-L10 to 24" diameter on our LB-45 and LU-45 machines. Our larger machines turn up to 80" length material and on our smaller lathes we can turn up to 49.6" in length material. Features on the various lathes include big bore capabilities, live tail stock and hydraulic chucks.
We excel at high speed machining utilizing a variety of cutting tools including ceramics. This allows us to be very competitive machining while achieving good surface finishes. We have extensive experience competitively machining a wide variety of materials including Inconel, titanium, waspaloy, stainless steel and cast iron.
Our larger long bed machines do extensive machining of cylinder liners: boring the IDs of cylinder liners up to 60" in length while utilizing steady rests. On our smaller long beds we have become very proficient at machining 2" to 4" diameter compressor rods.
Our 4 axis lathes with large chucks allow us to aggressively take off material on larger diameter parts. This has enabled us to become very proficient at competitively machining larger pistons.
